Introducing The Flying Thimbles!

We’re thrilled to welcome Alston’s very own folk trio, The Flying Thimbles, performing on Friday at this year’s festival! A relatively new formation, known for their upbeat acoustic music, the band plays a mix of traditional and modern tunes, stating they “love to folk anything up!”. Featuring Henela Bazley on washboard and claranet, with her versatile voice adding another layer to Harry Rennie’s solid vocals and one-man band backing, and Robin Moody’s inspired fiddle playing. Since forming, The Flying Thimbles have performed at many notable events such as Alston Moor Crafts Fair, Fairhill May Fair, Nenthead 200 anniversary and the Rainbow Summer Solstice Fayre. Expect toe-tapping tunes, uplifting harmonies and plenty of musical mischief as The Flying Thimbles bring their unique blend of folk favourites and fresh interpretations. Whether you’re a folk fan or simply looking for a great afternoon of live music, this is one performance you won’t want to miss!
